Advanced Settings (Remote Windows Content Source)

By default, if you do not use the gateway to serve documents, users are directed to the network path of the document. However, if you want to serve documents over HTTP rather than through the gateway, you can serve these documents from a remote Web server.

Important: These settings apply only if this content source does not use the gateway (you must select Does not use the Gateway to open documents on the Main Settings page).

To serve documents from a remote Web server:

  1. Select Use remote web server to serve documents.

  2. In the Web server base URL box, type the URL to the parent folder of the documents on this server. This can be the root of the Web Server (for example, http://server/) or a specific virtual directory (for example, http://server/documents/). Because the URL specifies a folder rather than a specific resource, it should always end with a forward slash.

  1. Click Administration.
  2. Open the Remote Content Source Editor:
  3. On the left, under Edit Object Settings, click Advanced Settings.
